Culinary Institute of Virginia (CIV), The College of Culinary Arts of ECPI University, offers degrees designed to help prepare graduates to become responsible, respected, and valuable members of the hospitality workforce. Programs offered, including Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry Arts, Culinary Nutrition, and Food Service Management, reflect the dynamism and diversity of the food service industry. 

 

Responsibilities

The Program Director for Food Service Management is responsible for the efficient delivery of quality student-centered, hands-on (active) learning and ensures the quality and effective delivery of the Food Service Management program.

 

  • Coordinate the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of the Food Service Management program curriculum.
  • Supervise and evaluate program faculty. 
  • Evaluate textbooks, reference books, and other teaching material.
  • Conduct faculty meetings.
  • Classroom teaching as assigned.

Qualifications

 

Education/Experience

  • Master’s degree in relevant field is required.
  • 5-10 years of industry experience in food service management.
  • Previous academic management experience preferred.

Skills/Abilities

  • Strong leadership skills. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information. 
  • Ability to supervise employees to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and lesson plan development. 
  • Knowledge of effective classroom management techniques. 
  • Ability to train and develop faculty. 
  • Strong academic and professional record.
  • Strong active-learning skills for effective instruction.
  • Experience in a student-centric and hands-on learning environment.
  • The highest levels of integrity at all times.
  • Orientation toward results.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills.
